High Nerd Score - day 3 Geek Week

My Nerd Score was 80 out of 100, I'm sad to say that 20% of people are nerdier than me. Rebecca the Wrecker believes I must have cheated so I thought I would throw out a couple of proofs for her.

Question: How nerdy is a person who buys computer magazines, given they didn't even own a computer?

Answer: This question invokes an axiomatic stance, the answer therefore implies -Very Nerdy. QED

Question: What kind of artist believes that reading science magazines and books has more relevence to her Arts practice than Arts magazines?

Answer: Statistics indicate that the said person falls into the High Nerd catagory with 87% certainty. Implications of results could include that said artist, (a) prefers real science over pretend science; (B) prefers well writen articles that are both professional and accessable; (C) thinks physics is cool.

But really I'm sure some of the answers in the Nerd Score quiz are skewed in their weighting. My theory is that if you answer the question, "Do you intend on publicizing the results of this test?" with Yes, your Nerd Score goes up considerably more than guessing correctly that Beryllium is a element in the periodic table.

Take the Nerd Test yourself and see.

Okay, I concede that you are Alpha Nerd out of my female friends. One point though, i'd have to say that reading 'that's life' magazine probably has more relevance to an artist than reading some snotty art mag full of meaningless jargon and theory. Unless it's one that publishes your articles of course flo;)

I got supreme nerd god.... I think I need to re-evaluate my life now...

ROTFL!

and... physics is VERY cool!!!!
I mean come on... Schrödinger's cat? The Heisenberg principle?? The doppler effect??? Black holes.... argh

Physics blew my mind... chemestry destroyed it though :)

Bec, When it comes to green nerddome you wipe the floor with me, you put me to shame with your "I actually give a damn" attitude.

"That's Life" magazine was one of John's (my partner) favourite magazines, the prizes for puzzles sections are particularly thought provoking. As you say, any magazine or journal that publishes my writing maybe temporarily excused of course.

Merly, I get down on my knees and pay homage to "Supreme Nerd God". It does make me wonder though...;^)

Merly,

I'm a string theory devotee, just don't ask me ,which string theory! I love the imagination of physics, but as to chemistry I never like mixing chemicals as I was always afraid something might explode.

For me physics ( and here is why I am such a geek) was tangable and very sensible.... chemestry was a bunch of C's and numbers and lines that made no sense to me at all but I also SUCK at maths.

I pride myself of the geekiness of my nature. The very best job I ever had was working at a computer firm ( ACER). For a 40 year old chick I do okay at this geeky computer stuff....I blame William Gibson for that though...

I didn't mind the blowing of stuff in Chem, I just didn't get it.... could not connect the numbers with the reality.
String theories, black holes at the center of each galaxy, the heisenberg principle of altering an object or things or what ever JUST by observing... now those ALL make sense.

and yes... I believe in the Force...

*sigh*

Merly: While I don't even rate as a Star Wars novice, the Force is real. I like reading theoretical physics the most because I'm always thinking "Gosh they're getting close":) and it always amazes me how elastic and creative the mind can be.

Lani: I know that as a Narcissian Surrealist I clearly think a lot of myself, however, this is balanced by the fact that their is always someone better that oneself, and could actually be commenting here on this very post aka Supreme Nerd God ;^)

mb: good one you for trying the test. Your popularity has skyrocketed. You can now proudly inform all your friends:) I don't recommend going to see a black hole however, but if you do you should pack a lunch as it could be a looonnnnnngggggggggggg trip.

Captain, how could you ever possibly be nerdy? You epitomise cool.

( spelling is optional.)

Not to mention Vulcan mind melds, cloned sons ( okay so not the greatest experience but he was cool never the less, ) and a hot physique ( oops did I say that?)

Have any of you tried Lady Grey tea? It's very nice. One year, I tried every variety on Twinings Tea, my favs were Assam, Queen Anne, Lady Grey/Early Grey, Russian Caravan, Afternoon Tea, for starters.

merlyn said...

Nope but will if I can find it here. My fav black tea is RED ROSE from canada which all my visiting friends are obligated to bring me.
I also really love lapsang souchung (sp) and ginger tea.

Tea is so good for the soul.

I like Rose Black tea too. There is a beautiful tin packaged tea I get from a Chinese Supermarket here in Brisbane that I just love:)
